"My Heart" by Paramore |
] |
So I'm sitting at work, right... and my brain is fully awake (yay coffee. I came into the office looking like a zombie and my boss made me coffee) but my body is like "fuck you I'm still asleep." I literally feel like I'm moving in slow motion. Hahahah. Its actually kinda cool feeling. I move to grab something off the printer and I'm just like "go faster, arm!"
I like Paramore. A lot. I gotta look up 10 Years.
I'll write more later. BUT FOR NOW:

"Born To Fly" by Sara Evans |
] |
So we're studying the Greek civilization in Western Civ. We talked about the Battle of Marathon and the legend of the Greek soldier Pheidippides.
So, when Persia was dust, all cried, "To Acropolis! Run, Pheidippides, one race more! the meed is thy due! Athens is saved, thank Pan, go shout!" He flung down his shield Ran like fire once more: and the space 'twixt the fennel-field And Athens was stubble again, a field which a fire runs through, Till in he broke: "Rejoice, we conquer!" Like wine through clay, Joy in his blood bursting his heart, he died - the bliss! -Robert Browning, "Pheidippides"
The story is awesome, really. Most of the time when it's told you only hear about him running the 26 miles from Marathon to Athens (which is how we got the marathon races we do today.) But he actually had done so much more.
Athens had helped another Greek city-state win a victory over the Persians (who had conquered them) It was a temporary victory, though, and the Persians set sail to Athens since they had helped the other city-state. Basically to show them who's boss.
When the Greeks found out the Persians had landed ashore Pheidippides was instructed to run from Athens to Sparta to ask for help. ( Click me for map! ) Now this is ON FOOT. RUNNING. No horses! No Nikes or Pumas. Little leather sandles was about the best they had. So he runs all the way to Sparta and asks their army to come help. Sparta is like "HAHA-no." so Pheidippides runs all the way back to Athens and then goes out and fights in a battle where the Persians outnumber them something outrageous like 10 to 1.
The Athenians miraculously win so the general immediately orders Pheidippides to run the 26 miles back to Athens to tell the good news. (mind you he's just been in a huge battle. Probably wounded and God knows how tired.) He reaches the city and with his last breath he says "Rejoice, we conquer!" and collapses, dead.
It's estimated he ran about 450 kilometers (~279.617037 miles) over rough roads from Athens to Sparta within two days.
Pretty fucking cool if you ask me.

"In Memory" by Shinedown |

Its been a little bit since I've posted.. So I figured I was long overdue.
Life is good. My work is good, school owns, and my friends are awesome. I talk to Kel basically every day now that he's settled into his unit in Iraq. There's always some kind of drama in my life but its just not worth sweating over. Its just me and my dad again in our house and we're almost done building the sunroom. Once its complete we'll start looking into relocating. I'm trying to get into the University of South Florida. I'm really excited about it.
..............I LIKE PIE.
OH MY GOD MY BRAIN STOPPED WORKING. I'LL POST AGAIN TOMORROW.

So the other night I had a dream that.. well the best way I can describe it is that the "rapture" had happened? But it wasn't like people normally describe it in books or movies. People didn't just vanish into thin air. They actually died legitimate ways. Like dieing in their sleep, or getting in a car wreck, or whatever the case may have been.
I think an angel (or something?)came to me, this part is kind fuzzy on who it was exactly, and they told me to close my eyes and go to sleep, and I would die quietly and peacefully. I remember being really scared about what would happen after and a few times I would almost fall asleep and wake myself up cause you had to be 100% asleep to die. Eventually I gained enough courage to drift off.
When I woke up I was in a room that had a long hallway. It was white with brown doors. There were lots of doors. If you've ever seen the movie What Dreams May Come think of each room as being everone's own personal heaven like in that movie. I remember running through the halls looking for my friends, mainly Kelly though, because he was in Iraq before I passed on and I wanted to make sure he made it to heaven okay, I guess. I started getting really paniced because I couldn't find him, and I was scared I left him on earth alone.
I also remember realizing I was in heaven so I could see my mother, so I started looking for her too, but my alarm clock went off. I shut it off and conciously remember being in that half asleep half awake state and telling myself I had to go back to sleep so I could find my mother. :( Its really depressing now that I sit and think about it.
My dreams always seem to be so vivid and odd. And its rare I forget them when I wake up.

Danke! (And yes, I think I'm actually going to start using this frequently. I think it will be a good way to organize my thoughts while Kelly is in Iraq. Given that fact a lot of my entries will be for friends only to see. Thus if you want to know what's going on with me you better let me know.

well kel is gone for a while.. overseas. its tough, to be totally honest, but I'll manage. Sabrina (Neil's wife) has really been helping me out a lot. Thank God for her, she's awesome!
School starts next week! :o I'm excited but not at the same time. Of course the only reason I'm not really excited is because I'm going to be loaded down with work. Between doing school full time and having basically a full time job its gonna kick me in the butt. Luckily my boss is letting me do my work from home though so hopefully that will make it easier.
Anna goes back to college in 2 weeks. I'm going to miss her. A lot. I'm hoping Kristen and I get the same class schedule or close to it.
My sister finally moved out today/yesterday (the 14th). Its finally just my father and I.. And he's about to go to Florida for a while. Life is interesting I suppose, and I've felt very artistic lately. I'm hoping to be able to express it some with Anna before she leaves. I miss painting with her.
Well, it's 1am and I have work in the morning. Bai.

"Over My Head" by The Fray |

Still waiting on that job at the law firm. This is super-frustrating. Every time I think I have it Tina tells me to wait just a little longer. I almost got a different job but damnit she gave me hope again this past weekend.
Speaking of this past weekend.. It was stressful. I won't indulge in why but, so you know, it was stressful. I'm okay, though.
I keep wondering about people who aren't in my life anymore. (old friends.) What they're doing, etc... I found myself browsing through the alumni section of myspace for my school, looking at everyone's profiles that I graduated with. I have to admit - I got choked up a wee bit. Memories as well as being slightly sad I didn't become closer friends with more people I graduated with. I wasn't the most popular kid, though. ;D Everyone always tells you high school ends up not really mattering, but I still wonder, sometimes.
Starting classes in the fall. (wewt.) No freaking clue what I'm taking yet. Waiting till Kristen is ready to go register so we can discuss who/what I should take. Meh.
Kelly is settling in nicely to the 82nd, though I miss him incredibly. I've got to talk to my dad about making a trip up there to visit him. Sigh.
Whelp! Off to make signs for my dad's Antique business! :D

"Where'd You Go" by Fort Minor |

Kelly is officially 82nd Airborn (2Panther unit, I do believe.) Basically he has 3 options of what could happen when they deploy: 1. He leaves at the beginning of August 2. He leaves in November 3. His deployment gets postponed till [???]
I'm obviously hoping for the third but that's probably the least likely to happen.
Home life isn't exactly that great. I'm hoping that things start to get fixed though. I want it to be just me and my dad again, but I doubt that will happen. I'm assuming when my sister & uncle move out my dad's going to high-tail it out of here and go to Florida. Not quite sure where I'll be. I assume either somewhere in Birmingham or I'll go to Florida too and work/go to college down there. I'd honestly rather do that than stay here. I need a fresh start.
